ABSTRACT
Aim of the study:
This study, aimed at identifying perceptions of graduate students about the most important professional qualities.
Subject or material and methods:
Subject and method of study is a qualitative analysis of 74 student essays on the topic «The image of an effective counselor».
Results:
Students’ perceptions match a profile of an effective counselor, most frequently described in scientific literature.
Discussion:
In addition, the experts believe these qualities to be the most effective for practicing psychologists.
The article features a comprehensive analysis of the main challenges faced by young professionals at the beginning of their counseling careers.
Conclusions:
In overall, the Psychological Center with its long-term experience of preparation and practical skills training for the students of the Clinical Psychology specialty, has proven its necessity, relevance, and effectiveness.
